MCA/MSCA joined forces with the Sheet Metal Contractors (SMACNA) and the Electrical Contractors (NECA) and have been awarded a $600,000 contract from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment to implement a proposal to attract more workers to the construction and service industry in the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and sheet metal trades. We are starting in the Denver Metro Area, based on what we outlined in the grant to the State of Colorado, but plan to expand this effort throughout the state. We have begun an effort with two full-time recruiters that will focus on recruiting Pipetradesmen into a “Pre-Apprentice” training program to get them workforce ready. They will focus on working to attract minority, women and workers in low-moderate income neighborhoods.
